I can't believe this product has not yet been recalled. I purchased it about 18 months ago and installed it as directed on the wall in my daughter's room. it worked fine at first though it did make small popping noises when it was heating up. Recently it has started making fairly loud poping noises and has a bright orange spot glowing near the center. Even worse, the unit is now the arcing and sparking. I'm taking it down and will likely throw it away.
Instant Heat and Safe June 27, 2010 James Lindbloom (Boise, ID) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this to replace 2 electric heaters that died on our last RV trip. Easily wall mounted or rolls around to the desired spot if you attached the wheel rollers and each set mounts with one large screw. The large surface area of this unit puts out maximum heat, and takes up little space because of it's thinness, and yet is safe. After reading reviews on this particular unit we decided that this was the one to purchase ... we're not sorry.
Do NOT buy Delonghi! May 19, 2010 Rick Stokell (Oceania) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought two of these heaters, both died within three months. Delonghi cust. service sent us a replacement for one- A $40 tower heater! Told us it was the best they could do! Never, never, never buy ANYTHING from Delonghi, they make junk! They will not refund our $$$, just stuck us with a cheaper junk heater. AVOID!!! I"d give the product one star and the company -1 star. How they can manage to stay in business selling such utter junk, I'll never know! This product has been discontinued by Delonghi.
Whadaya' want for $90 bucks? May 19, 2010 R. Ruotolo I purchased two of these for my basement man cave. They're just fine for taking the edge off the cold that seems ever-present in a basement space...even in April/May. For $90 bucks they do the job...at least during the spring months. I've not tried to crank these up to provide the primary heat source.
Each unit comes with a built-in thermostat which I've set to low, so they kick on when it gets below a comfortable temp. No telling what that temp actually is, as there's no temp indicator, but hey, a thermometer would just add to the price. Going by "feel" is fine...and if they put out too much or not enough heat based on the ambient temp, I simply have to turn the thermostat knob a bit in either direction.
They're quiet, save a few random clicks (from element expansion/contraction) as they turn on and off automatically. The construction is fine, if basic, but what do you expect for $90 bucks? In my particular application (supplemental heat, not primary heat source), I expect them to last for many years, even though the gray side sections are plastic, as are the legs and feet. The units are relatively attractive, although I'd have really preferred a wall-mounted option.
Speaking of wall-mounted options, I previously tried the Eco-Heater 602, and found it to be not acceptable. In theory, the two units (the Eco-Heater vs. the DeLongi) do the exact same thing using the same technology. Nonetheless, the Eco-Heater just didn't cut it.
Nice unit May 5, 2010 F. A. Holland (Shaker Heights, OH United States) I like the style of this unit. It heats up a medium size bedroom at a fair rate, depending on the initial temperature of the room. I found that it will heat up a 40 deg F bedroom to about 60 deg F. Therefore, I think it is better suited for supplemental heat when the temperature is very cold as opposed to being a sole source of heat for northern winters. But this is a decent unit for the price. It has an analog thermostat which requires trial and error to get the right comfort level. Would have been great if this had an electronic thermostat to precisely set the temperature. Would have given it 4.5 stars if possible.
